The Accidental restorer Cars , concours , characters

 thought that I was in the classic car restoration business so I never expected meeting life size statues of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in Osaka…. but I did at our client’s house, as they all peered from his little balcony and into the living room. “ 

The stories about my adventures into the restoration of rare and priceless classic cars took place between 1984 and 1995, but my life preparation for this accidental adventure and its aftermath covers a lifetime.  

The history of the automobile parallels the history of the industrial revolution and the two world wars.  I lived that history through these cars.  Cars before World War I such as the 1905 Mercedes or cars of the “Roaring Twenties”  like the 1925 Hispano-Suiza, all the way through the golden age of automotive design just before world war II and the automotive aftermath towards the 1950’s and 60’s. 

I didn’t just restore these cars but I lived their era, and lived through (and practically survived) their owners’ individual personalities. 

This book is about my story of that period where I lived the cars, won the Concours, and witnessed the characters.
